Shield of Faith Kid’s Craft (with free printable)

Lately, God has really challenged me to put on the full armor of God when it comes to fighting the enemy’s attacks over my family, over my kids, over our home. Sometimes, we can feel so out of sorts, and there’s a thick cloud of heaviness over the house: kids arguing, things going awry! Those are the times to start praying over your house AND getting the kids involved! Here is a fun craft I created for the kids to teach them about putting on the full armor of God!

First read Ephesians 6:10-17 to them. (Optional another great resource is the book, “Indescribable: 100 Devotions about God & Science” , read pages 12-13, if you have it, if not, continue to craft portion)

Supplies:

  • Construction Paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue or Tape

Directions: Print out Shield of Faith printable here. Then have your child cut out the Shield of Faith printable. Take the construction paper, put the shield on top of the paper. Trace around the shield, then have your child cut the construction paper.

Glue shield to construction paper. Then cut a thin strip of construction paper to glue on the back of the shield

Next, glue or tape the strip to the back of the shield!

Arden was so excited to do this craft! She had so much fun!

I, then, explained to them, what the meaning of having faith is: Hebrews 11:1, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.” I went on to explain that sometimes we pray for things and hope for things that we cannot see yet. But we have faith in God that it will come to pass. And then I asked them to give me examples of things they are praying for that they haven’t seen yet.

We will do more activities this week/next month to really dive into putting on the full armor of God, but this was a great introduction to the concept, AND the kids loved it. We may have even put the armor of God into songs and movements! Take a look below!

Here are some discussion questions after reading Ephesians 6:10-17.

  1. What does it mean to put on the full armor of God?

  2. Why do you think we need to put on the armor of God at all?

  3. What does it mean to have faith? (in what areas do you feel you need more faith in God)?

  4. How can you equip yourself in school (or at work, or home) to put on the full armor of God?

  5. In school or (at work), how can you fight against the enemy when he comes in the form of bullying, peer pressure, being a light to those around you, etc?

  6. Is there anything you want to talk to me about when it comes to school, bullying, etc?

So, when I did this activity with my little ones, they had a blast! I would love to hear from you, so make sure you tag me if you decide to do this activity or even when you’re studying this!

Until next time friends,
